Imagine a one-stop website where youth could easily search and find out where to access important services when in need and where to go to receive help. Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO) connects and offers integrated mental health and substance use services, primary care, and community and social services—for youth between the ages of 12 and 25.
Their website needed to be easy to use and navigate, easy to find information, contain all of the relevant information youth were looking for, be multilingual, and most of all it needed to be built by putting youth first. We worked with Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario to construct an interconnected youthhubs.ca.
Each hub has its own page. These single pages have their own location, contact, event calendar, and overview information custom to their hub. We built tools to allow each hub member to easily log in and keep their hub info up to date as events and programming change.
We developed slices that allowed more content customization on pages that allowed creative freedom but kept brand consistency. This created a design that acknowledged diverse needs across different hubs but allowed for a universal user experience. A user can know that each hub is a part of youthhubs.ca simply by the design.
By conducting focus groups that incorporated teenagers, we built a website that addressed their needs and concerns and heard directly about what they cared about most. This allowed us to create a website focusing on a great user experience.
